It all started with Julian the First (pictured below).

All PetitFelts have unique names. When I’m finished making an animal, it sort of just tells me what its name and story is. When I finished my second sardine, he said his name was…Julian. Third? Julian. Fourth? Julian. You get the idea. When I went on to create a collection of sardine ceramics, it seemed only natural that they would become Julianware.

The Julianware collection includes handmade porcelain trays, platters, bowls, and vases — all slip cast and hand-glazed in my Hudson Valley studio, each one featuring Julian himself at the center. Looking for even more behind the scenes info on Julian, head over to my journal.
