A small, hand-glazed, tinted-porcelain dresser…with a secret. Beneath the fitted dresser lid sits an open-topped box designed to hold a healthy pile of strike-anywhere matches. Because why strike just anywhere when you can strike on a tiny dresser?
Every Dresser Match Striker is made entirely in my Kingston, NY studio. I sculpt the original, make the plaster mold, tint the porcelain, slip cast each piece, and finish it by hand. The tinted color runs all the way through the clay rather than living only on the surface, which gives each piece a richness that surface glazes can't quite replicate. The lid is finished with a clear glaze; the base is left unglazed, so the raw porcelain works as its own striking surface.
Also lovely on a dresser or nightstand for small jewelry, trinkets, and the little things that need their own home. Not food-safe.
